The top fashion trends of 2019 so far

Although the Spring/Summer 2019 fashion show already hit the scene back at the tail-end of last year, the trends that hit the catwalk are still translating into those we’re currently seeing. Back then, designers were making it known that the themes were based around the ‘you do you’ punchline – and we’re seeing that from head to toe. Better yet, there’s a strong sense of female empowerment happening (yes, girl).

So, let’s get down to business – here are 2019’s hottest fashion trends to keep an eye on so far.

We’ve also noted down some Catwalk Connection favourites, so you can snatch up the looks for yourself.

Neo-boho

It might be a term you haven’t heard a whole lot of, but it’s one to keep in your pocket. Designers are taking inspiration from long, flowy and sensual desert-inspired looks, featuring sunset tones and ‘clashing’ pants to top it off. It’s boho with a modern twist. To put the cherry on top, we’re seeing lots of jewellery featuring amulets and crochet statement pieces – it’s all about thinking outside the box.

How to get the look

We recommend the Kati White Two Piece Set – a tribute to stunning lace couture with a contemporary edge.

Colour wheel outfits

This is a big one we’re seeing lots of across tailored pieces. This is where you’ll discover wardrobe classics like the pantsuit gaining an edge through bold colours and edgy cuts. This look is designed to pack a punch, so it’s not for the shy.

How to get the look

Channel your inner Victoria Beckham with our Betty Orange Mini Blazer Dress. Complete the look a gold clutch or purse. We also recommend wearing a pointed heel in a matching shade.

The utility look

Embracing the vibes of powerful femininity, utility trends have been a crowd favourite for a while now. But in 2019, they’re still in full swing, with designers making use of cargo pants and dusky shades. You’ll also see lots of patch-like pockets and tool-belt inspired accessories to really give this trend its utility touch.

How to get the look

To bring utility trend up to scratch with our love for a high-end touch, we’re reppin’ the Piper Green Detail Leather Jacket.

Asymmetrical couture

Probably our favourite one of all, asymmetrical couture (also referred to as ‘wonky couture’ here and there on the net) is definitely one to tap into. Featuring bubble skirts, balloon sleeves, and lots of personalities, these outfits are designed to turn heads. Think 50s and 60s-like couture with a little bit of a contemporary touch.

How to get the look

We love the asymmetrical look – really, we can’t get enough of it. So here’s to the Jessica Mini Dress, featuring body-con contouring and a mini-wrap design.
